Lupus Diet

If you are suffering from lupus or an autoimmune disease favor easy-to-digest meals. By enjoying healthy and lighter dishes you free up your energy for important repair work.

For example, it takes minimal effort to extract nutrients from soft, well-cooked foods like porridge or soup. When your overall energy is limited, don't squander your digestive oomph in a wrestling match with a slice of pizza.

Your goal is to rebuild your immune system and strengthen yourself. Fortunately, a good diet builds your foundational health. My lupus clients do best with balanced meals including modest portions of animal foods. Indeed, a bowl of chicken soup imparts more energy than does tofu soup.

With lupus, your digestive system is extra sensitive. Pamper it and you’ll feel better. If you wish help implementing a healing diett, consider a Diet Consultation.

The Detox and Cleanse ebook provides support for identifying and eliminating foods that trigger your flare-ups. It includes a week menu plan and 21 healthy recipes.

A critical dietary supplement for people with lupus is essential fatty acids (EFAs) from fish or flax oil.  From both my experience and research, I find fish oil is superior. When there is an EFA deficiency, the whole body declines and eventually dies. As their name suggests, EFA are indeed essential.

AVOID OR MINIMIZE THESE FOODS

      • Refined, highly processed foods and oils
      • Excessive carbohydrates (sugar, grains & even fruit)
      • Alfalfa sprouts as their amino acid canavanine exacerbates lupus inflammations
      • Nightshade veggies (tomatoes, potatoes, eggplant & peppers) may aggrivate lupus inflammation

As with other autoimmune diseases, people with lupus are more vulnerable to viruses, flu bugs, bacteria and other noxious parasites. The Bugs Eating You? Ebook provides practical steps to build your immunity and therefore better resist all disease causing pathogens.

If you’re suffering from lupus you can greatly improve your quality of life with easy to digest, balanced and delcious meals. The many articles and recipes on this web page as well as my books will guide you.

The featured recipe, Congee (Energy Tonic Soup), is an easy-to-digest and strengthening medicinal soup. Also see Bone Stock and Barley Cod Chowder.
